Roll the dice to see what exercise you get to do! Kids love the concept of chance and not knowing which exercise will come up next! Can you roll all 6 exercises?
Tightrope Balance Activity: This can be done inside or outside. Use a long piece of string/thin rope (sidewalk chalk outside) and make a pattern to walk across, trying to stay on the rope. You can walk in different ways: forwards, touching heel/toe, backwards, sideways each direction. You can make the rope in different shapes: straight, zig zag, curly cues. You can make crossing the line more purposeful by having your child carry objects across one by one, such as puzzle pieces, blocks, etc. Have fun!
Toss It Tic-Tac-Toe! Supplies: 10 Bean Bags or Rolled up Socks, Painters tape or Clothesline Rope
1) Make an indoor Tic Tac Toe board (or outdoor with sidewalk chalk and nice weather!)
2) Separate your bean bags or rolled up socks into two piles for the two people playing. If using socks, you can go with light and dark colors.
3) Toss them from an agreed upon spot to try and beat your opponent with 3 in a row!
You can do this indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather!
You can make your own hopscotch on your driveway with sidewalk chalk!
Or you can set up a hopscotch game in your house, in a hallway or some open space. This could also serve as a reminder for a movement break, when you walk down the hallway, maybe you could add a hop-jump-hop!
I hope you are doing well and finding ways to add some exercise into your days!
Each week, there will be a new exercise to focus on. The idea is that this can be the "go to" exercise to be used as a motor break, or generally throughout the day.
This week's exercise is: WINDMILLS
Cross over and touch your opposite foot with your hand.
Reach up in the middle of the motion with arms overhead.
Then touch your other foot with your opposite hand.
Can you do 7 on each side? Make sure to fully reach up tall in between each toe touch, as the tendency is to stay low and move from toe to toe.
